Who created Safari Experiences & Why
Hi I'm Douglas and adventure flows in my veins. I'm was born in South Africa, and after living abroad for 21 years and followed my passion for photography for 10 years when I owned 2 portrait wedding studios in Norway I got a call from the African bush in 2013 to continue my dream in the African bush and after a lot of planning I returned in 2015. In 2016 after completing a SATSA Tour Operator course and went on to qualifying as safari guide with honors after completing my FGASA field guide training followed by working full time as a guide for 3 years living either inside the Kruger National Park or in the Greater Kruger. While I was working as a freelance guide based in Marloth Park I also managed a lodge while working on my Photographic Safari dream offering photo safaris to the Kruger Park and Namibia. Then came Covid-19 and personal health challenges that has made guiding difficult for me, but my passion for adventure, traveling and safaris kept me searching for a way to live my African dream. Safari Experiences was created on the day I was diagnosed with a Mental Health disorder Bipolar 2 which I'm sharing with you to help end the stigma that people with MH challenges face on a daily basis and to be a roll-model for others that they can live there dreams they just have to follow their passion. We've all had some good and bad traveling experiences but I aim to have the bad ones so that you don't have to. I will continue to have safari experiences and share my favorite Safari Destinations, Accommodation & Activity providers with you so that you can choose which safari experiences you want to experience.
